Motcombe Improvements nearly completed

Your Committee

Work is progressing well with the refurbishment of the changing areas and the ladies now have a smart new area with some larger cubicles. The men’s area should be completed within the next few weeks.

Remember, for our club sessions, all the available changing areas will be joint male and female until the work is finished.

Where possible, people should use the cubicles in the ladies’ area, while those who need more space should use the group area.

Changing space is limited so all clothes must be put in the lockers or in a bag at the pool side.

Garden Party - Saturday 2nd August

Mary Bambury is again hosting a Garden Party in her garden. Come and enjoy a cream tea and cakes, try your luck on the tombola and have a relaxing afternoon.

This was a very popular event last year so make sure you put your name down on the pool side list or ring Bob on telephone 484165.

Venue - 6 Church Road, Polegate.
Time - 2 pm to 4 pm.
Cost - £5

Seafront Walk - Sunday 24th August

Rowena is looking for a team of walkers to help raise funds for our club at the Eastbourne Rotary Fun Day and Sponsored Walk on Sunday 24th August.

The walk starts on the Western Lawns at 11 am and we are aiming to go as far as Treasure Island and back. We should finish the 3 mile walk in time for the usual afternoon swimming at Motcombe.

Why not come in fancy dress? Let’s have fun and promote our club! Sponsor forms and more details are available from Rowena.

The 36th Annual General Meeting of the Club was held on Friday 6th June and re-elected the committee comprising:
Chair - Rowena Gausden
Secretary - Bob Gausden
Treasurer - Chris Merredew
Swim Reps - Shirley Barrow and Mel Clarke
Chief Inst. - Derek Cheeseman

Swimming Awards 2008

The Club ShieldThis year’s winner of the Club Shield for “Courage, Determination and Effort” is Robert Hammond.
Robert has made enormous progress in the short time he has been swimming with us and thoroughly enjoyed this year’s Fun Gala when he joined in all the games with great enthusiasm.

The Rose BowlOur other annual award, the Rose Bowl, is presented in memory of Tim Morris, a former Social Secretary.
This year’s winner is Mary Bambury who not only allowed us to invade her house and garden for last year’s Garden Party but also made all the amazing cakes as well. Come and sample Mary’s cakes at this year’s Party on 2nd August!
